Aker BP Awards Multiconsult Norge $37.4 Million Contract for Yggdrasil Power from Shore Project

3 Oct 2023

Norwegian oil and gas company Aker BP has selected Multiconsult Norge to provide civil engineering, consultancy, and supervision services for the Yggdrasil power from shore project in the North Sea offshore Norway. The contract, valued at approximately NOK 400 million ($37.4 million), will run until the end of 2027. The Yggdrasil project aims to ensure a stable and environmentally friendly power supply to the area.

Tormod Huseby, Aker BP Project Manager, expressed satisfaction with the agreement, highlighting Multiconsult's track record of delivering high-quality services to the power from shore project in Yggdrasil over several years.

Under the contract, Multiconsult will be responsible for onshore civil engineering for the power from shore system. Additionally, the company will offer consultancy and supervision services related to the power license, including environmental assessments, interactions with authorities, necessary applications, and site work.

The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy granted Aker BP a license on March 31, 2023, to connect the platforms in the Yggdrasil area to the power grid in Samnanger, Vestland County. The project includes the installation of a new transformer station, an 11-kilometer powerline, a compensation station, and a 250-kilometer sea cable, contributing to low emissions of less than 1 kg CO2 per barrel.

This significant development project, formerly known as NOAKA, encompasses the Hugin, Munin, and Fulla fields in the North Sea and is expected to provide substantial employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the Norwegian economy.
