Abengoa has been awarded a contract by Transmisora del Pacífico, Chilean main electric transmission company, for the execution of a transmission project that will help Chile to meet the national transmission system expansion plan.

Under the contract, Abengoa will be responsible for the construction of a new electrical substation on the Island of Chiloé that will connect with the existing 220 kV Melipulli - Chiloé line and the 2x220 kV Tineo - Nueva Ancud line.

The works will also include the adaptation of the land for future installations that will allow increase of the capacity of the Tineo - Nueva Ancud line to 2x500 kV.
