ABB's Power Grids business has launched a new software solution for asset owners, developed to enhance the operational performance of power transformers and lower the total cost of ownership.

The new solution is based on APM technology, which currently monitors 1.3 million assets in production around the globe.

It has been developed to accommodate the growing complexity of grid operations and safeguard energy reliability and resilience, while delivering real-time data to power producers and users on the current and future operational health of their transformer assets, according to the manufacturer.

The solution offers prognostic capabilities enabling customers to more accurately forecast when a critical asset is likely to fail and model alternative planning pathways.
