85-ton transformer moved to a substation in Paris

10 May 2019

FRANCE - Group Cayon has successfully transported an 85-ton transformer to a substation in Gennevilliers in the northwestern suburbs of Paris for the French electricity generator Groupe EDF (Électricité de France).

The 21-foot-long transformer made the first part of the journey by water on the River Seine, reports Cranes Today.

The last part of the journey from the docks in Gennevilliers to the substation site took place on land.

The short route featured several hurdles and the final stage took three days to complete.

"There wasn't much room at the destination. But with the self-propelled vehicle we were able to position ourselves well to install the transformer," said the project leader Matthieu Lapczynski, describing the final phase of the transport.
