50,000 Consumers to Benefit from MP Transco’s Latest Upgrade
In a strategic move to strengthen electricity supply amid rising summer demand, the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has commissioned a new 50 MVA transformer at its 220 kV South Zone substation in Indore, India.
The project, completed at an estimated cost of $370 000, is expected to benefit approximately 50,000 consumers by improving the reliability and quality of power distribution in the region.
According to Jayesh Chopra, MP Transco's Superintending Engineer in Indore, this addition brings the substation's total capacity to 906 MVA, making it the second in the state--after the Pithampur substation--with five 132/33 kV power transformers in operation.
The new transformer will directly enhance power availability in key areas such as Rajendra Nagar, Navlakha, Daly College, Pithampur, Pagnis Paga, Rau, and the vegetable market area.
With this upgrade, Indore's overall transformation capacity has reached 3,336 MVA. Statewide, MP Transco now operates 417 substations with a total installed transformation capacity of 82,011 MVA supported by 1,029 transformers.
This expansion reflects ongoing efforts to meet growing urban demand and modernize the power infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh.
