36.3-Hectare Ratoath Solar Project to Include 45 Transformers
Plans have been submitted to Meath County Council for a 36.3-hectare solar PV and battery energy storage project in Ratoath, County Meath.
Albatross Solar Limited is seeking permission for a 40-year development across Kilbrew and Loughlinstown. The proposal includes approximately 208,600 square metres of ground-mounted solar panels, three transformer stations and 45 transformers.
The project would also include 180 battery storage units, transformer and inverter modules, an electrical compound, switchgear rooms and three storage containers.
Other works include access from the L50161 public road, internal tracks, a temporary construction compound, landscaping, 25 CCTV cameras and two-metre deer-proof fencing.
Underground cabling would connect the transformer stations to a planned 110 kV substation, which requires separate planning permission.
The proposal would add solar generation and battery storage capacity to Ireland’s power system, subject to planning approval.
