178-tonne power transformer to set on a journey to South Derbyshire

NOTTINGHAM, UK - A massive power transformer the size of a house is being delivered to National Grid's Willington East substation in South Derbyshire.

The new power transformer will replace the existing unit at Willington East substation, which has now reached the end of its life, reports Nottingham Post.
The transformer is expected to leave Goole Docks at 2 pm on Friday, July 10 and should arrive at Willington East electricity substation in South Derbyshire at approximately 9 am on Sunday, July 12.
The unit will be delivered on a specialist vehicle which is more than 16.5 feet tall and 18 feet wide.
The vehicle will travel at approximately 12 miles per hour.
