170-ton transformer delivered to substation in Cambridgeshire

13 May 2019

EATON SOCON, UNITED KINGDOM - Collett & Sons has successfully delivered a 170-ton Hyundai power transformer from Port Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire to a substation in Eaton Socon, a district of St. Neots in Cambridgeshire.

The 28-ft long, 16-ft wide and 15.5-ft high cargo traveled under Lincolnshire Police and private escort along the 78-mile route through Long Sutton, Holbeach, Spalding, Peterborough, Stilton and Alconbury before arriving at the Eaton Socon Substation entrance, Collett said in a press release.

The haulage company undertook extensive swept path analysis and street furniture removal requirements to ensure safe passage of the 132.5-ft long convoy.

The power transformer will replace the 1960s equipment at the substation and increase the capacity of electricity supply to homes and businesses in the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire areas.
