100MW Testing Capability: Ebara Elliott Energy’s New Benchmark

12 Dec 2024
Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE) has announced a significant electrical upgrade at its Jeannette, Pennsylvania, facility, enhancing its capacity to test compressors and electrical equipment up to 100MW (134,102 horsepower). The upgrade positions the company as a global leader in large-horsepower compressor testing.

Ron Josefczyk, Vice President of Global Manufacturing at EEE, said, "This upgrade makes Ebara Elliott Energy one of the few global companies capable of manufacturing, testing, and servicing turbomachinery at this scale."

The project began in 2022 with collaboration and capability studies involving First Energy. Construction milestones include the installation of a new electrical line in August 2024 and utility pole drilling in October 2024. The facility is expected to be fully operational by Q3 2025.

The upgrade will feature a Main 138kV breaker, a 100MVA transformer to step down voltage, and capacitor banks to maintain stable voltage. These advancements ensure robust energy infrastructure to meet growing customer demand, especially in the LNG market. Mark Babyak, Vice President of New Apparatus Sales, emphasized that this expansion will help clients transition to greener, more sustainable solutions.
